This article wants to explore the articulation between formal, informal, and non-formal learning in libraries. In a context dominated by the technological discourse we will try to avoid a technocentric approach as technologies per sé cannot facilitate students’ learning, only their access to information. Teachers and librarians, on the other hand, can create the best environment (which could or not include technologies) to facilitate learning. The article will illustrate this statement through the activities carried out by two libraries in the town of Troyes, in northern France: the main city library, the Médiathèque de Troyes and the University Library (Service Central de Documentation) of UTT, Troyes engineering school.
