CSCW & Francophone Ergonomics (Part 2): Individual-collective approach and Design-oriented models
Workshop on The European Tradition of Field Studies, COOP'2014, 27 May, Nice
During the ECSCWʼ2013 “Workshop on Francophone Ergonomics and CSCW - a comparative analysis”, Salembier (2013) presented various theoretical/empirical and technological common features between the two communities. In the present paper, we propose to pursue this comparison. First, we briefly sum up our main common grounds and specifics with “ethnomethodologically inspired” CSCW. Then, we present two specificities of Francophone Ergonomics (FE) : the intrinsic approach to activity and the status of models and “modeling” practices. We illustrate our talk with examples of research in work/non-work settings for collaborative technologies and other design issues (e.g., energy management at home). We finally discuss our differences with ethnomethodology in echo with ethnography in CSCW (e.g., Blomberg & Karasati, 2013).
