Abstract
In PSA (Probabilistic Safety Analysis) applications, importance measures like Vesely-Fussel factor, RAW or RRW are well known and used to estimate the importance regarding risk (or safety) of an event. These importance measures are usually applied to study the importance of basic events in PSA, i.e. importance of a single component failure mode. However, importance measures can not only be applied to study elementary events, but can also be extended to study more complex events like system failure or function failure. In this paper, we define "extended importance measures" for different kind of events. Then we present their interpretation and their potential applications. Along the paper, an example is developed to illustrate the differences between these measures
